- JEN.

Step 2 — Book the Mums + Minis Class

Bring your baby along, enjoy a guided class designed for postnatal recovery, and take time afterwards to connect with other mums.

Many of our clients stay for a coffee nearby and build friendships that make this stage of motherhood feel a little less isolating.

Step 3 — Arrive, Move & Connect

Community Beyond the Class

One of the things mums often tell us they love most about Mums + Minis isn’t just the movement — it’s the connection.

Many women attending the class are navigating the same stage of life: early mornings, feeding schedules, and the big adjustment that comes with motherhood.

To help encourage this sense of community, the first Mums + Minis class of every month includes a complimentary coffee for every mum attending ☕️

It’s a simple moment to pause, chat, and connect after class.

Because sometimes the most valuable support during this stage comes from the people sitting beside you.

What If My Baby Cries?

This is one of the most common questions we hear from new mums.

And the short answer is — it’s completely normal.

Babies are welcome in the studio and we understand that little ones may need feeding, settling, or a cuddle during class.

Our instructors create a relaxed and supportive environment where mums can pause when needed and return to the exercises when ready.

Many mums are surprised at how comfortable and understanding the room feels once they arrive.

There’s no pressure — just a supportive space to begin moving again.

5 Things New Mums Wish They Knew Before Returning to Exercise

Returning to movement after having a baby is rarely as simple as “getting back into it.”

Your body has changed, your energy is different, and often the advice online can feel overwhelming.

Over the years, we’ve supported many women through this stage. These are the things they often tell us they wish they had known sooner.

1. Your body needs a different kind of strength first
Core stability, pelvic floor function, and posture all need to be rebuilt gradually after pregnancy.

2. You don’t need to rush
Recovery isn’t a race. Taking the time to rebuild properly often leads to better long-term strength and fewer injuries.

3. Guidance matters more than intensity
Early postnatal movement should focus on quality and control rather than pushing harder.

4. Feeling unsure is completely normal
Most mums feel nervous returning to their first class — and almost everyone in the room feels the same.

5. Community makes the experience better
Many women find that postnatal classes become a place where friendships naturally form.

Where to Meet Other Mums During Maternity Leave in Brisbane

For many women, maternity leave can feel both exciting and isolating at the same time.

You suddenly have this tiny human who needs you constantly — but finding opportunities to connect with other mums can sometimes feel surprisingly difficult.

That’s one of the reasons Mums + Minis classes at Pilates Place have become such a special part of many women’s maternity leave experience.

Each week, mums arrive with prams, capsules, and baby bags in tow. They move together in a supportive class designed specifically for the postnatal body — and afterwards many stay to grab a coffee nearby and chat.

Over time, these classes often become a small community of mums navigating the same stage of life.

Many friendships have started right here in the studio.

If you're on maternity leave and looking for a way to:

• reconnect with movement
• rebuild strength safely after birth
• meet other local mums
• bring your baby along to class

then Mums + Minis may be the perfect place to start.

Our studios are located in:

📍 Camp Hill Marketplace
📍 YG Riverside Village, Yeerongpilly

Both locations offer welcoming spaces for mums returning to movement, with cafés nearby for a relaxed post-class catch-up.

  • “I want to say how much I have enjoyed coming to the studio during my pregnancy. It’s been the perfect way for me to keep active and each of the instructors have been so accommodating when adapting exercises as I progressed through my pregnancy.
